Ford Motor Co., along with South Korean industrial companies EcoProBM and SK ON Co. Ltd., have joined other International corporations in the region near Trois Riviere and established a pivotal location in their North American electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing strategy. They have announced plans to construct a $1.2 billion battery parts factory in Bécancour, Quebec, with government funding of $644 million. The cathode manufacturing facility, set to open in 2026, aims to produce components for batteries in around 45,000 Ford vehicles annually. The governments of Canada and Quebec are providing funding, strengthening the region’s position in the EV supply chain.
